Early Years SEN

Under the SEND Code of Practice (0–25), early years settings have increased obligations for supporting the needs of pupils with SEN.

The stages of development differ greatly among young children; the line between poor behaviour, developmental delay and SEN is a fine one.

The SEND Code of Practice highlights the importance of keeping parents and their children central to our thinking and decision-making. Early identification of a child’s needs increases the effectiveness of interventions and ensures the involvement of appropriate professionals beyond the setting.
